Recently I was able to shoot for local Author Cynthia Roberts. She has been writing since she could pick up a crayon,and now her first publication Wind Warrior is on the shelves. When talking with Ms. Roberts I had asked what her vision or purpose for writing was. She eloquently with a smile stated:

" My wish is that my audience walk away with not only an entertaining read but a sense of comfort in knowing that whatever is going on in their lives there truly will be a rainbow at the end of their journey. Even if the road in life you are forced to travel is more trying than others and your prayers seem to go unanswered, faith is knowing one of two things will happen ... you will either allow the darkness to engulf you or you will learn how to soar like an eagle."

Not only is Ms. Roberts writing intriguing, she herself is awe inspiring. I found it a privileged to be in her presences and photograph her. A special thanks goes out to Ms. Roberts for using my pictures on her books and websites. It truly was my honor to photograph her.

The Vibratones

The Vibratones.. amazing musical rifts with even more intoxicating vocals. Local band that covers songs from the 60's-90's. Also rereleasing their famous song " The Vigina Song" heard also on Howard Stern. Playing locally and in Vermont. Next local show is Saturday June 26th 2010 at the Glenville Bayou Cafe 930 PM. Come one .. come all to a great place with even greater music and fun to be had by all.

Creative Ramble

Creatively I want to soar like bird. Yet, here I sit with my little clipped wings, awaiting them to heal so flight is a possibility. For so long I have known that, I have the potential to be a phenomenal photographer . Daily I see my refined eye searching feverishly to find that perfect shot, unable to stop the internal beast that drives me. Longing to unleash all the fiery passion that bubbles and feasters taking over my soul with its tenacity. Yet once again, here I sit with this aching hole in my chest from the lack of a creative moment to capture. Wondering what it will take, when it will happen and if I am fooling myself. The great plight of all artist struggling with the internal doubts of what will become of their creative children. Daily you sit nurturing them, until it is time to push them out into the great unknown seeing if they can survive. Wondering if they will free fall to the earth or if they are strong enough to take flight. Here’s to hoping that flight is a tangible option for the newest members of my creative collection.

Grasping hold of the dream

I thought I would go on a more personal note. A deeper side to Melissa if you can believe it. For years much like most of you who view my blog have had a dream. Never before have I thought that it would be possible to grasp hold of it. To those that have supported me through the years and yes even today I thank you. I thank you for understanding the creativity and depth of the struggle that goes along with it. Thank you to my muse that helps me see the beauty of the world through those dark eyes. Hoping you enjoy this posting as much as I did creating it. Leaving this one last thought for you all to ponder... if the beauty of the world seems to fade, if the fire in your soul seems to smolder instead of blaze, look not only externally for the truth of this reality called life, but also deep within your soul. Even in the darkest of times, the most painful of moments, true beauty can exist. It might not always seem beautiful but darkness can illuminate the deepest abyss that we might fall in. Keep fighting my friends and realize your dreams are only a desire and hope away.

Dog days of summer are amongst us. Why not take a moment to beat the heat at the first Starbucks on Wolf Road in Albany, NY? There is nothing like a cool refreshing beverage, great conversation with friends and the opportunity to check out some fantastic photography. This installment of my work will prove to be a refreshing experience. So why not go check it out and dip your feet into the preverbal realm of the minds eye? ( there is a little hint to the context of the photos for this installment)

Recently I have been given the great honor of being the showcased Photographer at the Wolf Road Starbucks in Albany NY.
